Girl Geek Winnipeg Blog Challenge

With the holidays WELL behind us and the new year WELL underway, I have decided to quit making excuses and give my blog(s) a much-needed kick in the ass.

How so, you ask? With the Girl Geek Winnipeg Blog Challenge, of course.

I have never done a blog challenge, but this one caught my eye because it's local AND it's a Girl Geek event, so you know it'll be fun. (Speaking of fun, I am *still* trying to make it out to one of their dinners...)

Watch this space as the challenge unfolds!

ReCreate #2 - Extreme Green

Once again, I will be taking part in the ReCreate event at the Habitat ReStore. And, once again, I am very much looking forward to seeing what all of the other artists come up with. There were so many interesting pieces at last year’s show; I especially liked what the art students came up with. So much fresh, young talent!

As for my own contribution, I have absolutely nothing planned. Last year’s cabinet-door memo board was a big hit, but I don’t think it would fit this year’s “Extreme Green” theme. (So much for making another one!) I have a whopping $25 to spend on supplies (up from $20 last year), so I know that I’ll be able to get some really good stuff.

I am going to visit the ReStore sometime in the next couple of weeks and see what jumps off the shelf at me. Stay tuned to see what I find…maybe I’ll live-tweet my shopping trip and do a vote…now that would be extreme.

Legend has it that my dad once broke up with a girlfriend because when talk turned to marriage, she started making plans for their new home...and that home included a kitchen full o' Melmac. Apparently, that was a deal breaker.

As for me, I love the stuff...I just never admitted it to my dad.

Ferris Bueller, you're my hero...

One of the most iconic and coveted symbols of my youth is for sale.

Molly Ringwald's Kharman Ghia from Pretty in Pink? Nope.

The earrings that Eric Stoltz gave to Mary Stuart Masterson (via Lea Thompson)? Nuh-uh.

Remember the mid-century modern house that Ferris Bueller's friend Cameron called home? It's on the market for *only* 1.6 million. The red Ferrari 250GT is not included.

I'm baaaaack!

Can you believe that I went three whole weeks without as much as a "Hi", "Hello" or "Hey look at this!"? I know I can't! My little blog-cation was part of my unplanned, but much needed semi-break from not only the internets, but from from crafting in general.

Save for a couple projects around the house, I have been on a little glue stick hiatus (even during my last two shifts at Mozy Rue) and, I gotta admit...it feels pretty good. The 2010 Holiday craft sale season really took it out of me, both physically and mentally. A girl can only handle so many late nights (and all-nights) before she starts to crack. Yup, a rest definitely did me some good

I suppose it's time to get back to it, though. Both the crafting AND the blogging. In addition to the ongoing stock at Mozy Rue, I have a couple shows to get ready for, including my first Crafty Minions sale in March. I'm also going to see if I can breathe some life into my oft-neglected Etsy shop and perhaps explore a couple new retail options. That is if I can remember where I put my glue sticks...
